Christmas is a time for tradition and last year, my husband and I started a few traditions in our house.
One, Santa only brings three presents for each child. If Jesus only received three gifts when he was born, and he is the reason we are celebrating Christmas, then three is enough for my children.
Number two, before they receive their presents from Santa, they must do an act of service first. Since my children are still small, their service act can’t be much. Last year we took a breakfast casserole to the police department.
When I asked my five year old yesterday what service act she thought we should preform, she said we should bring her grandparents cookies. While said grandparents don’t necessarily need or want cookies, I’m just pleased as punch she is on board with the service idea, and I’m sure they will be thrilled of her thoughtfullness.
And speaking of service, we finally delivered all of those beautiful wreaths my friends and I made to the local nursing home. Tis the season to be jolly, and give back. While a wreath isn’t much, hopefully we made a few extra people feel a little more cheer as Christmas draws near.
What traditions are important to you?
Merry Christmas, everyone! And be sure to check back Wednesday for a new cover reveal!
What a wonderful tradition to do with your children! They will always remember these little times spent with you and her grandparents:)
Thank you, Anne! We do try to make the holidays meaningful for them in the right ways.
